The 9400-8i8e is a new generation Tri Mode storage controller from Broadcom LSI. With 16 port full protocol support, hardware RAID acceleration, and enterprise level reliability, it is an ideal choice for storage expansion in medium to large servers and data centers. Compared to its predecessor, it offers higher bandwidth, larger connectivity scale, and more comprehensive storage protocol support, making it particularly suitable for building hybrid storage architectures that include SAS hard drives, SATA high-capacity storage, and NVMe cache.

- Supports data transfer rates of 12, 6, and 3Gb/s SAS, as well as 6 and 3Gb/s SATA
- Up to 8 storage interface PCIe links. Each link supports up to 8.0 GT/s (PCIe Gen3) x4 or x2 link width per channel
- Compliant with SFF-9402 standard, connector pin allocation
- Compliant with SFF-8485 standard, SGPIO
- PCIe 3.1 Host Interface
- Provide four x4 internal mini SAS HD connectors (SFF-8643)
- Support passive copper cables
- Supports x8, x4, x2, x1 PCIe channels, with a transmission rate of up to 8.0 GT/s per channel and full duplex capability
